인간의 삶과 예술의 맥락을 이해하고 음악적 표현의 기초 내용을 명확히 알 수 있도록 하는 것을 목표로 한다. 본 수업은 두 가지 방식이 병행되는 교양과목이다. 첫 째, 중세부터 20세기까지 즉, 바로크, 고전, 낭만, 현대음악을 중심으로 서양음악을 소개하고 각 시대마다의 특징과 주요 음악을 감상할 것이다. 둘째, 오페라, 영화에서 찾는 클래식음악, 뮤지컬, 그리고 화가와 작곡가등 다양한 콘텐츠를 병행해 수업이 진행될 것이다.

The subject has a goal that understands the circumstances of human life and historycal Art, and to clearly comprehensive the basic contents of musical expression. Also the class is University liberal-arts educated that combines two methods. The first, Western music will be introduced centering on Baroque, Classical era, Romanticism, and Modern music, and characteristics and significant music of each era will be appreciated from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. The second, this class will be held in parallel with various contents such as opera, classical music, musicals, and painters vs. composers.

This course is designed to achieve integrated education for students to explore music through the medium of piano performance as well as learning elementary music theory. Topics addressed in class include correct playing techniques, reading music, and the development of good practice habits. Upon successful completion of the course, the student will demonstrate the ability to recognize all keys of the piano keyboard, to successfully sight-read music, understand the elementary topics in music theory, and apply proper practice and performance techniques.

조성화성에서 사용하는 각 화음들의 기능과 진행에 대해 공부한다. 화성법을 학습하기 위한 기초적인 음악이론을 먼저 학습하며, 진도에 따라 수업시간에 다룬 기법에 관한 소프라노, 베이스 문제를 풀고 악곡을 화성으로 분석한다. 기본 삼화음, 3화음의 전위에서부터 간단한 전조까지 배우게 된다. 수업은 고재에 따라 화성법을 학습하고 해당 기법에 관한 문제를 풀고 과제를 제출하는 방식으로 진행된다.

The course is designed to study chords used in tonal harmony and their progression. Students are to solve soprano/bass problems concerning materials covered in the class and analyze musical excerpts from tonal repertoire. The course will cover the subjects from primary triads to simple modulation. During the class, the participants will learn the harmony skills described in the text book, solve related problems, and be assigned homeworks.

Introduction to music education as a profession, exploring the issues and relevant literature that inform and challenge music educators in the context of practical music. This introductory course in Music Education is intended to provide historical, philosophical, and practical foundations for the teaching of music. Initial exposure to the methods, tools, language, and literature of the professional music educator will be reviewed to help the student explore and confirm his or her decision to enter the field.

본 과목의 목적은 서양음악사의 흐름 속에서 중요한 의미를 갖는 음악작품들을 보다 자세하고 깊이 다루고, 서양음악사에서 이 작품들이 차지하는 위치를 보다 잘 이해하고, 더 나아가 서양 음악사의 흐름을 보다 더 이해하는데 있다. <서양음악사-III>에서는 주로 1750년에서 1830년경까지 시기의 ‘서양 고전음악’이라고 하는 음악 대부분이 이 시기에 속하다. 따라서 하이든 모차르트, 베토벤과 같은 음악가들의 작품들을 중심으로 이 시기의 시대사적 흐름을 개관한다.

This course cultivates analytical ability by critically examining musical works. This course consists of gradual learning steps over a series for Two semesters. Research for analysis formalism which orchestra, chamber music and various classical genres works.
